About the role#
This internship offers an opportunity to work with tax experts in a team environment. You will help identify tax savings for multi-state companies and support clients through tax controversies. This is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027 based in Houston.
What you'll do#
- Identify tax savings opportunities for clients.
- Assist with state and local tax controversies, including preparing clients for auditor discussions.
- Represent clients at hearings and appeal meetings.
- Prepare protests and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Research tax issues and draft technical memoranda.
- Review documentation and perform detailed calculations using raw data.
What you'll need#
- Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or Economics.
- Graduation date within one year of the internship.
- Minimum overall and major GPA of 2.8.
- Completion of 6 to 12 accounting hours, depending on the specific practice.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet research.
- Ability to solve problems, manage multiple assignments, and work with ambiguity.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- A valid driver’s license.
