About the role#
As a Test Engineering Intern at our Wallops Island, Virginia site, you will join the team responsible for launching Electron and Neutron vehicles. You will work alongside our flight operations crew to gain hands-on experience with live test and launch operations. Your goal is to improve the tools and procedures that keep these operations safe, repeatable, and efficient.
What you'll do#
- Apply engineering concepts to solve real-world challenges.
- Collaborate with a group of professionals to support test campaigns.
- Lead development projects without direct supervision.
- Attend regular 1:1 meetings with mentors and supervisors to track your progress.
- Participate in tech talks and connect with the team through social and professional events.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master's, or doctorate program in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, or Physics.
- At least one semester of school remaining after the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, such as internships, laboratory work, or personal projects.
- The ability to work in small, high-performing teams and navigate ambiguity.
Preferred qualifications include:
- A GPA of 3.5 or above.
- 6+ months of applied engineering experience.
- Experience with scripting or process automation, specifically with Python.
- Experience with 3D printing and CAD/CAM software, particularly Siemens NX.
Location & details#
- Location: Wallops Island, Virginia.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Commitment: Full-time, on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks starting in May or June 2027.
- Compensation: $25.00 per hour.
- Eligibility: This role is open to applicants who meet U.S. export control requirements.
