About the role#
As a Propulsion Design Intern in Long Beach, you will support our team in the design and analysis of components and subassemblies for the Archimedes engine. You will work alongside our propulsion team to build engine hardware and help move development forward.

- Apply engineering and industry concepts to solve real technical challenges.
- Work closely with your mentor and other department employees to grow your skills.
- Attend frequent 1:1 meetings with mentors and supervisors to review your progress.
- Participate in tech talks and connect with other interns and employees through social and professional events.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master's, or doctorate program in Aerospace, Astronautical, Aeronautical, or Mechanical engineering.
- At least one semester of school remaining after the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, such as internships, laboratory work, or project experience.
- Preferred qualifications include a GPA of 3.5 or above and 6 months of applied engineering experience.
- Familiarity with Siemens NX, ANSYS Workbench, CAD/CAM, Python, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and structural fundamentals is preferred.
- Experience with liquid rocket engines is also a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site role based in Long Beach, California.
- The internship runs for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks, starting in May or June 2027.
- The pay rate for this position is $28.00 per hour.
