About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Silver Spring, you will support the Space Systems Division. You will focus on the production of flight mechanisms for Separation Systems. You will work alongside mentors and team members to apply your academic knowledge to real engineering challenges.
What you'll do#
- Apply engineering and industry concepts to solve technical problems.
- Work closely with your mentor and other department employees.
- Attend regular 1:1 meetings with supervisors to track progress and success.
- Participate in tech talks and networking events with other interns and staff.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master's, or doctorate program in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- At least one semester of school remaining after the internship concludes.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, such as internships, laboratory work, or personal and team projects.
- The ability to thrive in ambiguous situations.
Location & details#
- Location: Silver Spring, Maryland.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks.
- Compensation: $25.00 per hour.
- Status: Paid internship.
