    About the role#

    As an Additive Manufacturing Intern, you will gain hands-on experience with rocketry and the impact of additive manufacturing on modern rocket engines. You will support the department that provides metal additively manufactured hardware for the Electron, Neutron, and Space Systems programs. This role is based in Long Beach, California, and requires full-time, on-site attendance for at least 12 consecutive weeks starting in early 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Work closely with your mentor and other department team members to apply your engineering knowledge to real-world challenges.
    • Attend frequent one-on-one meetings with supervisors to track your progress and development.
    • Participate in technical talks and network with other interns and employees through professional and social events.
    • Provide regular status updates on your projects.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate program in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
    • At least one semester of school remaining after the internship concludes.
    • A minimum GPA of 3.0.
    • At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, such as internships, laboratory work, or personal and team projects.

    Preferred qualifications include:

    • A GPA of 3.5 or above.
    • 6+ months of applied engineering experience.
    • Exposure to metal additive manufacturing or 3D printing.
    • Skills in CAD/CAM modeling using Siemens NX, Solidworks, or similar software.
    • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

    Location & details#

    • Location: Long Beach, California.
    • Term: Winter 2027.
    • Compensation: $28.00 per hour.
    • Status: Full-time and paid.
