About the role#
The IT Intern works with the Information Technology team to support technical operations at RML Specialty Hospital. This role is for current college students who want hands-on experience in a healthcare setting. You will gain exposure to enterprise systems, service desk workflows, and hardware management while working alongside experienced professionals. The internship lasts for one academic semester, typically 12 to 16 weeks, with 16 to 32 hours per week scheduled around your classes.
What you'll do#
- Respond to IT support tickets and helpdesk requests.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
- Provide support for computers, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.
- Set up, image, and deploy Windows workstations and laptops.
- Maintain equipment inventory and track assets.
- Participate in device upgrades, replacements, and decommissioning.
- Monitor system performance, connectivity, and availability.
- Assist with user account creation and onboarding tasks.
- Update documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Contribute to cybersecurity initiatives like phishing awareness or MFA rollouts.
- Support IT improvement projects such as system migrations and infrastructure updates.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Computer Science, Information Systems, Cyber Security, Engineering, Programming, or a related field.
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical users.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
- Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals like IP addressing and Wi-Fi.
- Experience in helpdesk or customer service environments.
- Coursework in cybersecurity, systems administration, or software support.
- Exposure to Active Directory, device imaging, or ticketing systems is helpful.

- Work occurs in the IS office, administrative areas, and patient-care locations.
