About the role#
This is a full-time, 12-week internship program running from May 17, 2027, to August 6, 2027. You will work with the Operations and Maintenance team to support the safe and reliable operation of utility-scale solar facilities. The role is based in Houston, Texas, and requires travel to project sites across the United States and Canada.
What you'll do#
- Assist field technicians and site managers with routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs.
- Troubleshoot and evaluate the performance of solar modules, inverters, trackers, and combiner boxes.
- Collect and analyze field performance data to support operational reliability.
- Support site audits, safety inspections, and the tracking of key performance indicators.
- Participate in root cause analysis for equipment failures.
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Asset Management teams on plant optimization.
- Observe contractor maintenance practices to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Prepare operational reports and maintenance summaries.
- Present your project findings and recommendations to company leadership at the end of the program.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program for Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis without sponsorship.
- A basic understanding of electrical systems and renewable energy technology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with clear verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work safely outdoors in various weather conditions and environments.
- Willingness to travel up to 50-75% of the time to remote project locations.
- Ability to walk long distances across solar facilities and climb ladders as needed.
- A valid driver license with a satisfactory driving record is preferred.
- Experience interpreting technical documentation and engineering drawings is preferred.
