About the role#
This Systems Engineering Co-op position focuses on the Special Operations Aviation Mainline. You will work in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to support the development and integration of avionics for MH-47 and MH-60 helicopters. This is a full-time, on-site role that requires U.S. citizenship.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with systems engineers on avionics capabilities for specialized aircraft.
- Learn the full lifecycle of requirements, from capture and decomposition to verification.
- Assist in the creation of engineering requirements and test procedures.
- Conduct hands-on testing within Systems Integration Laboratories that mirror actual cockpit environments.
- Observe how engineering decisions made in the lab impact aircraft and crews in the field.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program for Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Ability to remain enrolled through the end of the co-op session.
- Interest in aviation, software, electronics, or systems design.
- Experience with technical troubleshooting on projects where initial attempts failed.
- Familiarity with tools like DOORS, JAMA, JIRA, or ALM, or experience with Agile development.
- The confidence to ask questions when you need clarification.
