About the role#
As a Panel Shop Wireman Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the assembly, wiring, and testing of electrical control and relay panels. You will work directly with technicians to support projects for utility and substation applications. This role is intended for students pursuing technical degrees or trades who want to build practical skills in electrical assembly and shop operations.
What you'll do#
- Build panels by following engineered drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Assist with point-to-point continuity testing to verify panel wiring.
- Inspect electrical frames and equipment to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Use hand tools and measuring devices to complete fabrication tasks.
- Support the verification of DC power and control circuits.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following company procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a high school, technical school, trade program, community college, or university, or a completed high school diploma or GED.
- Ability to safely operate basic hand tools and measuring devices like tape measures.
- Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn new technical skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Comfort working in a manufacturing or shop environment.
