About the role#
Providence Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to gain hands-on experience in a hospital pharmacy environment. This role provides exposure to various clinical tasks and drug distribution systems under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. The position is per diem with flexible shifts available, including days, evenings, and weekends.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Pharmacist with drug distribution systems, patient counseling, and pharmacokinetic calculations.
- Verify, fill, and package prescriptions while interacting with customers.
- Prepare dosages and sterile admixtures using aseptic technique.
- Participate in performance improvement and data collection activities.
- Provide pharmaceutical care for diverse age groups, ranging from neonates to geriatrics.
- Manage inventory control, controlled substances distribution, and medication storage inspections.
- Maintain department cleanliness and handle billing, receiving, and stocking duties.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Pharmacy Student in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing, or Public Health.
- Current State Board of Pharmacy Certificate of Pharmacy Intern.
- Ability to assist in drug distribution systems.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique for sterile admixture.
- Familiarity with inventory control and medication storage regulations.
