The Invertebrate Pest Biology intern will support laboratory and greenhouse studies focused on the development of novel biopesticides. You will work on projects ranging from early-stage screening of potential products to routine quality control testing, contributing to the development of solutions for agricultural pest management.
What you'll do#
- Assist scientists with the setup and execution of experiments.
- Maintain insect colonies through diet preparation, egg collection, and cage maintenance.
- Prepare materials for bioassays and assist in conducting in vitro and in planta evaluations.
- Record experimental data and results in an organized manner.
- Maintain cleanliness in laboratory and greenhouse areas, including glassware, containers, and benches.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Agriculture, Environmental Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Nursing (emphasis in entomology, nematology, or plant pathology preferred).
- Hands-on experience working in a laboratory or greenhouse setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
