About the role#
This is a 12-week paid internship for PhD students within the Grooming R&D business. You will focus on the development of structure-property relationships in polymeric blade coatings. The role requires you to scope and execute a self-directed research project while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team.
What you'll do#
- Lead efforts to determine how material properties affect product performance.
- Design and run experiments to test polymeric parameters and measure material properties.
- Perform hands-on synthesis, characterization, and structure-property model building.
- Integrate information from internal and external sources to support project goals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program for Chemistry, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
- Experience with polymer property characterization, including surface analysis, microscopy, and spectroscopy.
- Ability to design controlled comparative experiments and define quantitative endpoints.
- Strong scientific communication skills for documenting protocols and presenting to technical audiences.
- Proficiency in applying digital tools to analyze and optimize polymer formulations.
- Ability to work independently on a 12-week research project.
Location & details#
- Location: Boston, Massachusetts.
- Term: Summer 2027 (12 weeks from May/early June to August).
- Modality: Hybrid (3 to 5 days per week in the office).
- Employment: Full-time.
