About the role#
This internship provides insight into the banking industry through on-the-job and formal training. You will gain hands-on experience working with credit analyst and lending teams. The role involves observing how various departments, including Treasury Management, Private Banking, and Merchant Services, operate to provide comprehensive service to customers.
What you'll do#
- Observe the daily work of Loan Officers and Credit Analysts with guidance from mentors.
- Practice spreading financial statements and underwriting loans.
- Perform analysis and formulate questions to improve loan request underwriting.
- Participate in loan committee meetings to understand the approval process.
- Review loan set-up worksheets to identify missing information and help complete packages for funding.
- Observe how the team generates new business through prospecting, referrals, and networking.
- Research industries to understand the Bank’s target customer profile and prepare prospect materials.
- Network with leaders in the lending division and meet with product partners to learn about complementary programs.
- Interact with employees, vendors, and clients.
- Participate in training through the Banker Development Program.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a four-year, accredited college or university.
- Strong preference for a Finance or Accounting major, though supplemental coursework in these fields may be considered.
- Good academic standing at your institution.
- Eligibility to work for any U.S. employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically word processing and spreadsheets.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated customer service and teamwork abilities.
