About the role#
This internship provides insight into the banking industry through on-the-job training and formal activities. You will gain hands-on experience by working with credit analyst and lending teams. You will also observe how various departments, including Treasury Management, Premier Services, Private Banking, and Merchant Services, operate together to serve customers.
What you'll do#
- Observe the day-to-day activities of Loan Officers and Credit Analysts with guidance from experienced mentors.
- Practice spreading financial statements and underwriting loans.
- Perform analysis and formulate questions to improve loan request underwriting.
- Participate in loan committee meetings to understand the approval process.
- Review loan set-up worksheets and work with the Loan Officer and Loan Assistant to complete loan packages.
- Observe how new business is generated through networking, prospecting, and referrals.
- Conduct industry research and prepare prospect materials to understand the target customer profile.
- Network with leaders in the lending division and meet with product partners to learn about complementary services.
- Interact with employees, vendors, and clients.
- Participate in training opportunities through the Banker Development Program.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a four-year, accredited college or university.
- Strong preference for a Finance or Accounting major or concentration (supplemental coursework in these areas is considered for other majors).
- Good academic standing at your college or university.
- Eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including word processing and spreadsheets.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated customer service and teamwork abilities.
