About the role#
As a Student Financial Aid Counselor II, you will serve as part of the CARE team to provide guidance to students and parents regarding financial aid programs, eligibility, and account questions. You will work closely with university leadership to develop communication plans and procedures that support institutional goals. This is a full-time, on-site position at Prairie View A&M University.
What you'll do#
- Provide personalized counseling to students and parents on affordability, financial awareness, and payment options.
- Assist students with navigating the financial aid application process, including FAFSA completion and verification.
- Conduct outreach through phone calls, emails, and text campaigns to help students manage bills and aid renewal.
- Facilitate financial literacy courses and workshops, including Financial Aid 101 sessions.
- Partner with academic advisors to help students meet satisfactory academic progress requirements.
- Collaborate with CARE team leadership to develop and implement outreach programs and services.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- At least one year of related experience in higher education, specifically in admissions, financial aid, or case management.
- Knowledge of financial aid counseling, verification processes, and relevant rules and regulations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high volumes of work and meet deadlines.
- Ability to assess existing processes and implement improvements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with a diverse range of individuals.
