About the role#
As a Student Financial Aid Counselor II, you will join the CARE team to support students and parents with financial aid programs, eligibility, and account questions. This role focuses on providing personalized guidance to help families navigate the financial aid process. You will work closely with leadership to implement policies and communication plans that support university goals. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Prairie View, Texas.
What you'll do#
- Provide daily case management and counseling regarding affordability, education costs, and payment options.
- Coordinate application follow-up for new students, including FAFSA completion and document verification.
- Conduct outreach, retention programming, and workshops to help students renew their financial aid on time.
- Collaborate with campus partners, including academic advisors and career services, to provide integrated support.
- Manage direct contact with students and parents through appointments, walk-ins, and phone calls.
- Facilitate financial literacy training and events throughout the year.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree.
- At least one year of related experience in higher education, such as admissions, financial aid, or case management.
- Knowledge of financial aid counseling, verification processes, and relevant regulations.
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, organize work, and make independent decisions.
