About the role#
PotlatchDeltic Corporation is hiring an Environmental Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position located in St Maries, Idaho. The internship runs for 10 to 12 weeks, beginning in late May and ending in early August.
What you'll do#
You will assist the environmental team in meeting corporate policies and regulatory requirements. Your work involves monitoring, documenting, and maintaining compliance records. Specific tasks include:
- Perform periodic testing, monitoring, and site inspections.
- Collect and record data for air and water permits.
- Inspect water discharges, stormwater outfalls, and pollution control equipment.
- Conduct required water sampling and analysis.
- Maintain facility environmental files and ensure recordkeeping standards are met.
- Respond to SPCC spills and participate in environmental audits.
- Inspect workplace environments and equipment to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Participate in the mill safety culture as an active resource.
- Communicate regulatory requirements to site operations.
- Conduct environmental training sessions as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Environmental Science, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least two years of experience in the environmental field or a manufacturing/business environment, ideally with regulatory agency interaction.
- Basic proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to learn new software applications.
- Strong communication skills to interact with mill personnel and regulators.
- Ability to provide training on environmental regulations and policies.
