About the role#
As a Research Intern, you will work on laboratory and pilot scale projects to improve our technology. You will execute research plans that deliver commercial value. This role requires collaboration with engineers, scientists, and plant operators. You will work on-site in Sioux Falls for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Perform benchtop, small scale, pilot, and analytical tests.
- Develop and complete research plans to meet commercial objectives.
- Assist with on-site commissioning and start-up activities.
- Analyze, interpret, and document research data.
- Communicate results and issues through written and verbal reports.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness.
- Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance.
- Support a team environment.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in junior level or higher college courses.
- Major in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with lab equipment, including spectrophotometers and general chemical assay procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Personal integrity, an innovative mindset, and the ability to think objectively.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and embrace change.
Location & details#
- Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: This is a full-time, on-site position.
- Travel: Up to 20% travel may be required, including occasional overnight stays.
- Physical requirements: The role involves standing for long periods, data entry, and lifting weights up to 50 pounds. You will work in laboratory, office, and plant environments, which may include exposure to chemicals, noise, and mechanical parts.
