About the role#
The Bioprocessing Student - Plant Technician intern will work on-site at our facility in North Manchester, Indiana. You will learn to operate plant processing equipment and perform routine maintenance in a highly automated chemical environment. This is a full-time, paid internship with a rolling start date. Please note that continuous plant operations may require 12-hour shifts, and you must be able to meet call-in requirements if necessary.
What you'll do#
- Learn the safe operation and maintenance of equipment used in bioprocessing.
- Assist with the removal, installation, and rebuilding of equipment as part of preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Perform basic electrical troubleshooting.
- Operate the Distributed Control System (DCS) for the plant.
- Collect and test quality control samples, interpret results, and make adjustments to optimize operations.
- Document activities, maintain accurate logs, and enter data into our systems.
- Follow standard operating procedures for plant start-up, shut-down, cleaning, and batching.
- Notify management of any safety, environmental, quality, or production concerns.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an accredited learning institution focused on bio-processing, energy production, or plant maintenance.
- Proficiency in math, reading comprehension, and mechanical reasoning.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and the capacity to learn new software.
- Experience with systems like Maximo is preferred.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including working at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and physical exam.
