About the role#
This is a 6-month paid co-op opportunity for the Winter 2027 term. You will join the Image Guided Therapy Devices Software R&D group in Plymouth, Minnesota. You will support the definition, analysis, and verification of requirements for clinical imaging software. You will work alongside software systems engineers, developers, and product owners to turn user needs into technical design inputs.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with Software Systems Engineering and R&D teams on project tasks.
- Assist with system decomposition and the allocation of requirements to software elements.
- Learn to use systems engineering tools to define and manage software requirements.
- Support reviews of design specifications and potential technical solutions.
- Assist with documenting software system-user interaction models and stakeholder feedback.
- Complete training to comply with regulatory and quality management standards.
- Create and deliver a presentation summarizing your work, contributions, and key learnings at the end of the assignment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in systems engineering, computer engineering, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Interest in medical device software, risk management, human factors, or product development.
- Basic exposure to programming languages such as C++, Java, C#, or Python.
- Understanding of software development life cycles or agile methodology.
- Strong skills in problem-solving, analytical thinking, technical writing, and communication.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Plymouth, Minnesota.
- This is a full-time role.
- US work authorization is required. We do not provide sponsorship for this position.
- The hourly pay range is $25.00 to $36.00, and the role is eligible for overtime.
