About the role#
As a Health Education Intern at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, you will gain hands-on experience promoting health and wellness for employees and the community. You will work with the Education team to support initiatives aimed at improving overall well-being and gain practical skills for your career in health education.
What you'll do#
- Assist in developing and implementing the Risk to Reasons health education programs, workshops, and campaigns.
- Conduct research on current health trends, evidence-based practices, and resources.
- Create educational materials like brochures, flyers, and online content.
- Help plan and coordinate health fairs, screenings, and awareness campaigns.
- Organize and facilitate training sessions on topics such as nutrition, exercise, stress management, and mental health.
- Gather data on health behaviors and needs through surveys and assessments.
- Monitor and evaluate programs to track effectiveness.
- Collaborate with teams like Human Resources, Marketing, and Community Outreach.
- Perform administrative tasks including record keeping, data tracking, and report preparation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program in public health, health education, community health, or a related field.
- Knowledge of health promotion theories, behavior change models, and evidence-based practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to reach diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in research, data analysis, and information synthesis.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in health education or community outreach is helpful, as is familiarity with design software.
