About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to apply academic concepts in risk, compliance, cybersecurity, and governance within a large-scale utility environment. The program is designed for students seeking to gain experience in IT governance, data policy, and technical risk management.
What you'll do#
- Assist in designing, developing, and implementing IS governance policies and standards.
- Create and maintain detailed process documentation and track technical controls using governance tools.
- Conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and support vendor audits.
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure technical initiatives align with business objectives.
- Analyze governance metrics to identify trends, create performance reports, and assist with dashboards.
- Collaborate with the team to establish and monitor compliance guidelines for AI and machine learning products.
- Help maintain robust security and access controls across IS environments.
- Support audit activities by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Develop educational materials to promote data literacy and compliance awareness.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited university or college with a senior classification or above.
- Pursuing a degree in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Technology Risk, Governance, IT Audit, Computer Science, Business Administration, Data Science, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Completion of or current enrollment in advanced coursework covering IT risk, governance frameworks, information security, compliance, audit, networks, or system architecture.
- Good academic standing.
- Ability to commit to 15-20 hours per week.
- Strong analytical and computer skills with excellent written communication abilities.
- Previous internship experience is preferred.
