About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to apply academic concepts in risk, compliance, cybersecurity, and governance within an enterprise utility environment. The role is open to students pursuing degrees in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Technology Risk, Governance, Computer Science, Business Administration, Data Science, or Operations Management. Interns will work with the Information Systems (IS) Governance team on tasks ranging from policy design to audit support.
What you'll do#
- Assist in designing, developing, and implementing IS governance policies, procedures, and standards.
- Create and maintain detailed process documentation to ensure adherence to organizational frameworks.
- Conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and assist with vendor audits.
- Partner with IS and business stakeholders to align technical initiatives with business objectives.
- Analyze governance metrics to identify trends, generate performance reports, and assist in creating dashboards.
- Document technical controls and translate policy requirements into actionable tasks.
- Collaborate with the team to establish and monitor compliance guidelines for AI and Machine Learning products.
- Support audit processes by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Develop educational materials to promote data literacy and IT governance awareness.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited college or university with senior classification or above.
- Pursuit of a degree in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Technology Risk, Governance, or a related field.
- Completion of or current enrollment in advanced coursework covering IT risk, governance frameworks, information security, compliance, audit, networks, and system architecture.
- Good academic standing.
- Availability to commit 15-20 hours per week.
- Strong analytical and computer skills with excellent written communication abilities.
- Previous internship experience is preferred.
