About the role#
The Corporate Planning department at Philadelphia Gas Works is seeking an intern to support energy innovation and new energy ventures. This role focuses on researching industry best practices, evaluating emerging technologies, and assisting with the development of communications materials. This is a paid, full-time position for the Summer 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Research case studies and utility best practices related to energy innovation, including university partnerships, business incubators, and pilot programs.
- Identify potential partners and maintain a catalogue of businesses focused on carbon capture, alternative energy, and energy efficiency.
- Review engineering studies to determine the cost-effectiveness and utility-specific applicability of new technologies.
- Support the development of project portfolios and business cases.
- Assist in the creation of communications materials and outreach strategies.
- Support additional departmental activities related to corporate sustainability and strategy as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or completion of a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Business Administration, Public Policy, Environmental Studies, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and employees.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to develop creative solutions.
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter while exercising sound business judgment with limited supervision.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks under short deadlines.
