About the role#
The Philadelphia Museum of Art is seeking a Suzanne Andree Curatorial Fellow for the Department of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs. This two-year fellowship provides professional mentorship and experience with the care, cataloguing, and interpretation of a collection containing over 162,000 works on paper. The fellow will work closely with the department and Paper Conservation to support exhibition planning and collection growth.
What you'll do#
- Manage the Abigail Rebecca Cohen Study Room, including visitor outreach, art movement, and scheduling class visits or individual appointments.
- Research and catalogue collection items while responding to research queries.
- Assist curators with the management and implementation of exhibitions and publications.
- Prepare condition reports and preliminary research for potential acquisitions in coordination with the Paper Conservation team.
- Support collections assessments and various departmental projects.
- Create materials for bi-annual departmental committee meetings, such as acquisition justifications and presentations.
- Handle general departmental administrative tasks.
What you'll need#
- A Master’s degree in art history is required, and graduate experience beyond an M.A. is preferred.
- A focus on prints and drawings and a demonstrated commitment to museum scholarship.
- The ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Prior experience in a museum or similar art institution is preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
- The term runs from Fall 2026 through August 25, 2028.
- This is a full-time, exempt position consisting of 35 hours per week.
