About the role#
PCL Construction is hiring an Estimating Student for a four-month term in Ottawa, Ontario. This full-time, paid position begins in January 2027. You will work on-site as part of the Canadian Buildings sector.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the preparation of tender documents.
- Contact trade contractors and suppliers for pursuit support.
- Obtain and build unit-pricing.
- Perform and update quantity take-offs.
- Update request for information lists.
- Learn to understand trade scope definitions and local market conditions.
- Learn to understand varied contractual terms and conditions.
What you'll need#
- You are working toward a degree or diploma in civil engineering or architectural technology.
- You have the ability to perform quantity take-offs and unit pricing.
- You can read blueprints.
- You possess strong computer skills, including experience with spreadsheets, design, and formulas.
- You have knowledge of conceptual estimating and various contract arrangements.
- A passion for working in a construction environment.
- Prior field construction experience is an asset.

- Location: Ottawa, Ontario.
- Term: Winter 2027 (4 months).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $21.25 to $30.00 per hour, depending on experience.
