About the role#
This is a full-time, paid Estimating Student position based in Calgary, Alberta. The role runs for the Winter 2027 term, with availability required for 4 to 16 months starting in January 2027. This is an on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Learn and use PCL estimating manuals, systems, and forms.
- Review quantity survey assignments with the lead or Chief Estimator.
- Perform assigned quantity surveys and transfer data to the lead estimator.
- Provide quantities of major purchase items to the purchasing department for pricing.
- Manage bid document control and assist with bid day tasks.
- Handle general subtrade solicitation duties and build relationships with subcontractors.
- Visit job sites periodically.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Chief Estimator.
What you'll need#
- A strong desire to work in a construction environment.
- Ability to use computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, and drafting programs.
- Prior field construction experience is an asset.
