About the role#
We are hiring an Estimating Student for our Nisku, Alberta office. This is an 8-month, full-time, paid internship starting in January 2027. You will report to a Senior Estimator and work on industrial projects. This role is on-site.
What you'll do#
- Use estimating manuals, systems, and forms.
- Review quantity survey assignments with the lead or Chief Estimator.
- Handle drafting and design tasks.
- Perform quantity surveys and provide data on major purchase items to the purchasing department.
- Manage bid document control and assist with bid day assignments.
- Perform subtrade solicitation and build relationships with trade contractors.
- Visit job sites periodically to support project understanding.
- Build on skills acquired during previous work terms.
What you'll need#
- A strong desire to work in a construction environment.
- Proficiency with computer software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and drafting programs.
- Prior field construction experience is an asset.
- A reliable vehicle for travel to the office, as the location is not accessible by public transit.
