About the role#
The Privacy and Civil Liberties (PCL) Engineering team works at the intersection of technology and ethics. As an intern, you will join an interdisciplinary team of engineers, designers, lawyers, and policy experts to build software that ensures operational effectiveness does not come at the expense of safety, reliability, or fundamental rights. You will own the end-to-end execution of high-stakes projects, working with significant independence to solve complex socio-technical challenges.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop full-stack software products for privacy, data protection, AI governance, and accountability.
- Improve core platform products and use the platform to enhance customer workflows.
- Understand and apply the impact of the latest developments in law and policy to technical solutions.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical teammates to identify and address customer challenges.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an engineering-related degree program, specifically Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or Data Science, with a planned graduation date in 2027.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, Java, C++, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within diverse teams and work in an environment with evolving objectives.
- A strong interest in the impact of technology on society and a drive to solve difficult technical problems.
