About the role#
The Privacy and Civil Liberties (PCL) Engineering team builds software to ensure customers can meet ethical and legal obligations while addressing operational challenges. As an intern, you will join an interdisciplinary team that includes engineers, designers, lawyers, and policy experts. You will have significant ownership over your work and be treated like a full-time engineer, taking responsibility for projects that directly impact our customers.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop full-stack software products focused on privacy, data protection, AI governance, and accountability.
- Own the end-to-end execution of high-stakes projects with minimal supervision.
- Improve core platform products and use the platform to refine customer workflows.
- Analyze the impact of developments in law and policy to inform technical approaches.
- Collaborate with both technical and non-technical teammates to solve complex problems.
What you'll need#
- An engineering background in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or Data Science.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, Java, C++, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
- You must be planning to graduate in 2027.
- An interest in understanding and addressing the impact of technology in society.
- Ability to work effectively in teams and adapt to changing objectives.
