About the role#
Forward Deployed Software Engineers (FDSEs) work directly with customers to understand complex problems and design solutions that use data to drive real-world impact. As an intern, you will work in small teams with significant ownership over your projects, similar to a startup environment. You will contribute to critical operations and gain insight into important industries and institutions.
What you'll do#
- Own the end-to-end execution of high-stakes projects with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including fellow engineers, product teams, and Deployment Strategists.
- Engage directly with customers, often on-site, to understand their requirements and tackle technical challenges.
- Perform a variety of tasks including architectural discussions, large-scale data wrangling, custom web application development, and team strategy planning.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
- An engineering background in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Ability to work independently, make decisions with minimal direction, and continuously learn.
- Eagerness to solve technical problems involving data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, and front-end frameworks.
- Ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical individuals in an evolving environment.
- Willingness to undergo a US government background investigation as required by specific projects.
- Interest in traveling to client sites, with a preference for 25-50% travel availability.
- Must be planning to graduate in 2027 and this should be your final internship before graduation.

- Location: Honolulu, HI.
- Modality: On-site and hybrid options available.
- Commitment: Full-time internship with a rolling term.
- Compensation: Paid position at approximately $10,000 per month.
