Forward Deployed Software Engineer, Internship - Commercial

About the role#

Forward Deployed Software Engineers (FDSE) work directly with customers to understand their most critical problems and design, implement, and deploy technical solutions. You will apply your problem-solving skills and creativity to help organizations use data to drive real-world impact. As an intern, you will be treated like a full-time engineer, receiving significant freedom and ownership over your work on projects that customers rely on.

What you'll do#

• Work in small teams with minimal supervision to own the end-to-end execution of high-stakes projects.
• Collaborate with fellow engineers on architecture and strategy.
• Manage large-scale data and build custom web applications.
• Engage directly with customer executives to define and iterate on solutions.
• Solve technical challenges involving data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, and front-end frameworks.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a degree program with an expected graduation date in 2027.
• Engineering background, preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or Data Science.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions with minimal direction, and collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to client sites as needed (typically 25-50%).
• Interest in using large-scale data to solve complex business problems.
