About the role#
Pacers Sports & Entertainment is looking for a Basketball Analytics Intern to support the Indiana Pacers front office, coaching staff, and training staff. You will work on-site in Indianapolis during the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position requiring approximately 40 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Build internal software tools for the front office and coaching staff.
- Collect, clean, store, and manage data from various sources.
- Create standardized reports and ad-hoc analyses.
- Maintain and improve current analytics infrastructure.
- Develop new ways to support coaching, scouting, and performance operations.
- Present findings and reports to basketball operations staff.
- Help compile statistics for the Indiana Pacers and Noblesville Boom.
- Assist with game night responsibilities.
- Work both on team projects and independently on individual tasks.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a junior, senior, or graduate student in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
- Experience with Python and SQL.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerBI.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex results clearly.
- Dependability and high motivation.
- Familiarity with basketball terminology and analytics.
- Knowledge of Git for version control.
- Experience with R, machine learning techniques, and statistical analysis.
- Ability to build data visualizations and use data collection methods.
- Skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for user interfaces.
- Familiarity with AI tools.
