    About the role#

    Makerspace Mentors support the daily operations of the Pace University Makerspace. You will work with students one-on-one and in small groups to help them become independent learners. This role involves managing appointments, maintaining records, and assisting with the general upkeep of the workspace.

    What you'll do#

    • Lead workshops and facilitate fabrication sessions or events.
    • Conduct scheduled and walk-in sessions with students.
    • Create learning resources for faculty and students.
    • Document your sessions through detailed reflections.
    • Participate in trainings, assessments, and regular meetings.
    • Observe peers and receive feedback from Makerspace staff.
    • Handle administrative tasks, including timely email responses.
    • Maintain professional boundaries while working on delegated projects.

    What you'll need#

    • Federal Work Study eligibility.
    • A GPA of 3.4 or higher, with 3.5 preferred.
    • Technical skills in areas like 3D printing, laser cutting, or sewing.
    • Patience and the ability to work with visitors from diverse backgrounds.
    • Skill in adjusting your teaching approach to different learning styles.
    • Discretion when handling confidential information.

    • This role is located in New York, NY.
    • Work is on-site.
    • You may work up to 20 hours per week during the semester and up to 35 hours per week during breaks.
