About the role#
The Purchasing Intern role supports the Global Procurement and Supply Chain teams at Oshkosh Corporation. You will gain hands-on experience in procurement processes, supplier management, and the financial side of component purchasing. This position offers exposure to the full product lifecycle, from early development concepts through to production.
What you'll do#
- Support commodity managers with negotiations, supplier selection, and performance management.
- Conduct quarterly scorecard reviews and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Manage supplier pricing and maintain accurate data on purchase orders and standard costs.
- Administer RFQs by sending packages, collecting quotes, and comparing commercial terms.
- Visit suppliers to evaluate their manufacturing processes, capacity, and constraints.
- Coordinate part-number changes, cut-ins, and Bill of Material (BOM) updates.
- Manage EDI and supplier-portal forecasts while communicating changes and deadlines to partners.
- Identify and implement digital tools and AI to improve team efficiency.
- Learn how component pricing impacts financial decisions, standard costs, and EAC.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s program for Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Economics, or Logistics.
- A graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- A GPA of 3.0 or greater.
- Ability to work full-time hours during the internship.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
