About the role#
This internship supports the Materials department at Pierce Manufacturing. You will use analytical skills to identify opportunities for improvement and develop solutions that result in optimal material flow at the lowest total cost. You will work alongside the Materials and Operations teams to refine processes and support the overall efficiency of our manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Compile data from ERP systems and other sources to support decision-making.
- Reduce excess material handling through value stream analysis and Plan for Every Part (PFEP) principles.
- Support the standardization and implementation of a lean enterprise material flow strategy.
- Work with Materials and Operations teams to implement lean manufacturing techniques.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and other improvement events.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Operations Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Maintain student status throughout the entire duration of the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or greater.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
