About the role#
Pratt Miller, an Oshkosh company, is seeking a Product Intern for Summer 2027. You will work with a cross-functional team on low-volume production programs within the defense sector. This role focuses on the full product lifecycle, from initial design to final assembly. You will report to the Product Director and serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
What you'll do#
- Manage and track program requirements.
- Participate in prototype design, build, testing, and development.
- Influence product design with a focus on manufacturability, quality, and commonality.
- Create and maintain bills of materials.
- Collaborate with purchasing on supplier selection and part procurement.
- Support production fabrication, manufacturing, and assembly processes.
- Own product cost targets and execute plans to meet them.
- Track quality metrics and implement corrective actions, including generating ECRs.
- Ensure prototype efforts transition effectively to low-rate production.
- Lead production team meetings and act as the primary product expert.
- Provide direct customer support, including potential travel to remote or international locations.
- Manage warranty, scrap, obsolescence, and spare parts activities.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Broad knowledge of automotive or military vehicle systems engineering.
- Proficiency with ERP tools and MS Office.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Understanding of ITAR licensing classifications.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
- US Citizenship or Permanent Residency status.
- Experience with low-volume production programs is highly desired.
- CAD, GD&T, defense industry, and logistics product data experience are considered pluses.
