About the role#
The Assistant Director of Student Access and Support oversees daily operations for the Student Hearing Office. You will manage student enrollment transitions for expulsions, disciplinary conferences, and the reentry of adjudicated youth. This role involves advising families, schools, and advocacy partners on district policies while ensuring all disciplinary actions comply with due process rights and legal standards. You will also draft district-wide discipline policies and analyze data related to student support services.
What you'll do#
- Oversee the daily operations of the Student Hearing Office.
- Review disciplinary action recommendations to ensure compliance with procedural safeguards.
- Conduct student disciplinary conferences for K-12 students.
- Coordinate student enrollment with schools and community partners for students returning from alternative schools.
- Compile and analyze summary data regarding expulsion recommendations, disciplinary conferences, and their outcomes.
- Draft discipline policies and create necessary forms, packets, and outreach materials.
- Advise stakeholders on discipline and enrollment procedures.
What you'll need#
- An Associate degree is required, and a Bachelor degree is preferred.
- Five or more years of experience in education, law, public policy, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience facilitating large and small groups.
- Ability to navigate and diffuse emotionally overwhelming situations.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Understanding of Special Education policies and restorative approaches.

- This is a full-time, on-site position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
