The Policy Committee acts as a standing committee for the Board, serving as a forum for the development and review of organizational policies. The objective of this role is to strengthen the Board’s leadership in policy governance and ensure that the Ontario Tech Student Union operates with clear, effective, and compliant documentation. This is a volunteer position.
What you'll do#
- Support the Board by taking a strategic approach to policy development.
- Review and recommend new or revised governance policies to the Board annually to ensure they align with organizational priorities, bylaws, and the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act.
- Review and vote to approve non-substantive revisions, such as correcting errors, formatting changes, and updating references.
- Develop and recommend an annual schedule for policy review within a five-year framework.
- Engage with stakeholders and conduct research as necessary to support policy development.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student at Ontario Tech University (taking 3 or more courses).
- Good academic standing with a cumulative GPA above 2.0.
- Interest in governance, policy, or organizational development.
