About the role#
The Policy Committee serves as a standing committee of the Board to strengthen the leadership and governance of the Ontario Tech Student Union. This role supports the Board in taking a strategic approach to policy development and organizational oversight.
What you'll do#
- Support the Board in developing a strategic approach to organizational policy.
- Review governance policies annually and recommend new or revised documents for Board approval.
- Ensure policies align with the OTSU Bylaws, the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, and current organizational priorities.
- Review and vote to approve non-substantive revisions, such as correcting errors, formatting changes, or updating references.
- Engage stakeholders throughout the policy review process.
- Conduct research as needed to support policy development and review.
- Assist in maintaining the five-year policy review schedule.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student at Ontario Tech University (taking 3 or more courses).
- Good academic standing with a cumulative GPA above 2.0.
- Interest in governance, policy development, or organizational strategy.
- Preferred fields of study include Political Science, Public Health, Business Administration, or Communications.

- Location: Oshawa, Ontario.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: Volunteer position with rolling terms.
