About the role#
This 12-week, full-time summer internship at nVent offers the opportunity to apply Lean principles within a real-world manufacturing environment. You will work alongside operations and support teams to identify improvement opportunities and implement practical solutions. This role is based in Blaine, Minnesota, and runs from May or June through August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Spend time in manufacturing areas to observe processes, document cycle times, and identify value-added versus non-value-added activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, visual management, shadow boards, and workspace organization.
- Assist with operational improvement projects, such as creating or updating tool shadow boards and updating workstation and floor location labels.
- Assemble carts for material movement within and between work cells.
- Scan and organize documents into retention folders.
- Update documents in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Partner with operations and support teams to understand needs, communicate updates, and help implement improvements.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain and Operations Management, Production and Inventory Control, or Engineering.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Ability to complete a 12-week full-time internship in Blaine, MN, during the summer of 2027.
- Current work authorization in the U.S. (nVent does not provide sponsorship).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn and work collaboratively with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to be resilient and adaptable through change.
- Strong work ethic and personal responsibility to see tasks through to completion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
