About the role#
The Mechanical Engineering and Design Co-op at nVent provides hands-on experience within the Enclosures segment. This role focuses on developing technical and leadership skills through project work, formal training, and mentorship. You will work alongside professionals at various levels to gain insight into a global organization.
What you'll do#
- Prepare product layouts with direction from engineering.
- Design components and assemblies using 3D CAD software.
- Adhere to established engineering drafting and release standards.
- Participate in the product development process, including brainstorming and voice of customer activities.
- Process Change Action documentation and develop bills of material.
- Perform research to obtain missing information and verify specifications on documentation.
- Use FEA tools to analyze parts and assemblies in static and dynamic environments.
- Research and present on current and next generation technologies.
- Perform calculations to ensure all dimensions, tolerances, and specifications are accurate.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a preference for Juniors and Seniors graduating between May 2028 and June 2029.
- Experience with 3D modeling software, specifically SolidWorks.
- Proficiency in computer skills and the ability to interpret written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
- Knowledge of design standards, manufacturing processes, and sheet metal or HVAC systems.
- Aptitude in mechanical, electrical, or refrigeration design.
- Ability to organize, document, and manage multiple simultaneous projects.
- Strong communication skills to interface across functional areas.

- Location: Anoka, Minnesota.
- Term: Winter 2027 and Summer 2027 (January - August 2027).
- Modality: On-site.
- Employment: Full-time.
- Compensation: This is a paid position at $25.00 per hour.
- Benefits: Includes paid time off, paid sick time, paid volunteer time, and paid holidays. Relocation and housing support are available for eligible candidates.
