About the role#
Nucor Steel Brandenburg is hiring a Metallurgist Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This on-site, paid, full-time position supports the production of plate steel. You will work within the mill to ensure quality standards and assist with technical processes. Safety is the primary focus of this role, and you are expected to uphold all safety policies and procedures at all times.
What you'll do#
- Compile and analyze mechanical testing and chemical composition data.
- Verify that materials meet specific customer and society requirements.
- Assist with metallographic preparation and analysis.
- Organize and maintain technical documentation.
- Support problem-solving efforts throughout the steel production process.
- Communicate with teams across the mill.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 4-year undergraduate or non-thesis graduate program.
- Interest in metallurgy and materials science.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, SPC, computer science, or coding languages.
- Ability to work on-site in Kentucky.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
