About the role#
The Investment Analyst Intern will join the Private Debt and Equity group at Northwestern Mutual. This role involves evaluating direct private equity and debt investment opportunities across a variety of industries. Analysts work alongside senior deal team members to support the full transaction lifecycle, including investment analysis, modeling, and ongoing monitoring. As the internship progresses, analysts take on increased responsibility, including coordinating with corporate executives and presenting investment opportunities to senior leadership.
What you'll do#
- Develop cash flow models, investment theses, and risk analyses.
- Assist in all aspects of investment transactions.
- Monitor existing investments and perform analytical reviews.
- Communicate and coordinate directly with corporate executives.
- Present findings and investment opportunities to senior members of Northwestern Mutual Capital.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field, with a graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Previous work or classroom experience in investment banking, equity research, private equity, or corporate development.
- Strong financial modeling skills and proficiency in accounting.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Previous private debt and equity internship or relevant project experience is preferred.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.

- Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June to August).
- Modality: On-site, full-time.
- Compensation: Paid internship with pay determined by academic tenure and major.
