About the role#
The Investment Analyst Intern position within the Private Debt and Equity group provides exposure to private equity and fixed income investing. You will work alongside senior deal team members to evaluate direct private equity and debt investment opportunities across a broad range of industries. This program is designed to build a strong analytical framework within a lean, high-volume deal team environment.
What you'll do#
- Analyze, model, and monitor private debt and equity investments.
- Develop cash flow models, investment theses, and various risk analyses.
- Coordinate and communicate directly with corporate executives.
- Present investment opportunities to senior members of Northwestern Mutual Capital.
- Participate in professional development workshops, senior leadership Q&A sessions, and networking events.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Previous work or classroom experience in Investment Banking, Equity Research, Private Equity, or Corporate Development.
- Strong financial modeling skills and proficiency in accounting.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities with effective communication skills.
- Previous Private Debt and Equity internship or relevant project experience is preferred.
- Note: Employer immigration sponsorship is not available for this role.

- Term: Summer 2027 (June 2027 to August 2027).
- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: Paid internship with a pay range of $16.50 to $30.00 per hour, determined by academic tenure and major.
