About the role#
Norfolk County is hiring student Assistant Instructors to support aquatic programs and swimming lessons. You will work with Instructor Guards to help participants develop skills and maintain a safe environment. This role involves both instructional support and general facility maintenance tasks.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Instructor Guard by organizing equipment, demonstrating skills, and providing feedback to participants.
- Perform facility maintenance, including taking water readings, cleaning change rooms, and checking safety equipment.
- Support special pool programs, County aquatic events, and water safety initiatives.
- Help at the front counter by processing registrations, handling money, and answering phones.
- Attend aquatic division meetings and in-house training sessions.
- Follow the Health and Safety Act, Life Saving Society standards, and County policies.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 15 years old.
- You must be currently enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary institution and returning to school full-time in the next term.
- Current LSS Bronze Cross certificate.
- Standard First Aid with C.P.R. Level C.
- LSS Assistant Instructor certification is an asset.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
Location & details#
- Location: Simcoe, Ontario, with site work across the County.
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Hours: Up to 24 hours per week.
- Status: This is a paid, part-time student position.
