About the role#
NJM Insurance Group is hiring an IT Data Science Intern for the Summer 2027 program. You will work alongside data scientists and business stakeholders to assist with data preparation, model development, and visualization projects. This is a paid, part-time position based on-site in West Trenton. The program includes opportunities to network with leadership, participate in team projects, and attend professional development seminars.
What you'll do#
- Collect, clean, and prepare structured and unstructured data for analysis.
- Support the development and testing of machine learning algorithms and predictive models.
- Build dashboards and visualizations using Power BI or Databricks AI/BI tools.
- Write Python scripts for automation, data manipulation, and analysis within Databricks.
- Collaborate with the team to document findings and validate how models perform.
- Research new data science technologies to see how they fit into the NJM ecosystem.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore or Junior in a Bachelor's degree program for Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0, though a 3.5 or higher is preferred.
- Knowledge of Python for analytical programming.
- Experience with Power BI and Databricks.
- Ability to commute to the office in West Trenton, New Jersey.
