About the role#
The Production Engineer Co-op role supports the manufacturing team at the Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant. This position involves direct collaboration with engineers to optimize assembly sequences, manage quality documentation, and assist in the development of manufacturing aids. This is a paid, full-time, rolling internship.
What you'll do#
- Support Production Engineers in developing and optimizing assembly sequences and operator work instructions.
- Create, validate, and maintain Quality Assurance documentation, including fastening torque specifications and electrical connections.
- Collect, analyze, and track critical measurement point data to identify trends and support continuous improvement.
- Partner with engineering teams to implement production aids and equipment, using AutoCAD and Inventor to create technical drawings.
- Assist in aligning Bills of Material (BOM) with operator work instructions to ensure production accuracy.
- Participate in Virtual Reality (VR) CAD studies to evaluate manufacturing processes, equipment layouts, and ergonomics.
- Assist with 3D modeling, prototyping, and the creation of 3D-printed components for engineering projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Academic standing of Sophomore level or higher.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.

- This position is located on-site at the Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant in Smyrna, Tennessee.
- Candidates must be able to perform work on-site.
