About the role#
NISC is hiring a Technical Support Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Mandan, North Dakota. You will work with our support teams to maintain software and hardware systems for our members.
What you'll do#
- Troubleshoot and resolve Windows desktop operating system issues.
- Join PCs to Windows domains and install NISC software.
- Remove viruses and spyware from systems.
- Use remote connectivity tools like Remote Desktop to assist users.
- Create and test printers on Windows and Linux servers.
- Provide phone support to customers within an Automatic Call Distribution environment.
- Monitor Windows and Linux servers using Xymon tools and develop action plans for issues.
What you'll need#
- A High School diploma or equivalency.
- Current pursuit of an Associate or Bachelor degree in Information Technology or a related field.
- Coursework and a general understanding of Windows desktop operating systems, Linux and Windows servers, and TCP/IP networks.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical solutions to both technical and non-technical users.
- Professionalism and a commitment to our shared values.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
