About the role#
Neogen is seeking an Accounting Intern to join our Finance team in Lansing. This role offers the chance to apply your classroom knowledge in a corporate setting while gaining hands-on experience with daily financial processes. You will work alongside experienced professionals to develop practical skills that provide a foundation for your future career.
What you'll do#
- Assist with monthly financial reporting by preparing schedules, updating templates, and validating data.
- Support accounting and financial analysis tasks, including researching discrepancies to ensure accuracy.
- Help with budgeting and forecasting through data collection, variance analysis, and summary report preparation.
- Perform cost, trend, and KPI analysis to support business decisions.
- Maintain financial spreadsheets, databases, dashboards, and documentation.
- Partner with Finance and cross-functional teams to gather information for projects.
- Assist with process improvement initiatives and system-related work.
- Support basic financial modeling and other ad hoc accounting activities.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and financial concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and functions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Previous accounting coursework or internship experience is preferred.
- Exposure to ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite is a plus.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is helpful.
