About the role#
Neogen is looking for a Tax Intern to join our corporate tax team. This role provides hands-on experience with corporate tax processes while you work alongside experienced accounting and tax professionals. You will support various tax compliance, reporting, research, and administrative tasks to develop your understanding of tax operations within a global organization.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns and supporting workpapers.
- Gather, organize, and analyze financial information required for tax compliance and reporting.
- Support the preparation of tax account reconciliations and related schedules.
- Assist with sales and use tax, property tax, and other state and local tax activities.
- Support quarterly and year-end income tax provision processes.
- Research basic tax issues and summarize findings for the tax team.
- Help respond to tax notices and gather documentation for audits or inquiries.
- Maintain tax files, documentation, and supporting schedules.
- Work with Accounting, Finance, and other business functions to obtain information for reporting.
- Assist with special projects, process improvements, and other tax-related activities.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A foundational understanding of accounting principles.
- Interest in corporate taxation and a desire to develop tax knowledge.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Coursework in federal or corporate taxation is preferred.
- Previous accounting, finance, or tax internship experience is helpful.
- Familiarity with ERP, accounting, or tax software is a plus.
- Interest in pursuing a CPA or other professional certification.
