About the role#
The Animal Safety QC Intern will join our team in Lexington to support quality initiatives within our Animal Safety business. You will work on a structured project designed to address a real business need, such as data analysis, process improvements, or audit readiness. This role offers hands-on experience in a professional laboratory and manufacturing environment, allowing you to apply your academic background to practical quality systems.
What you'll do#
- Participate in daily quality activities and departmental projects.
- Collect, organize, and analyze data to summarize your findings.
- Review existing processes, procedures, and documentation to recommend improvements.
- Conduct research and prepare reports, presentations, or project materials.
- Collaborate with partners across Quality, Operations, and Laboratory teams.
- Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and learning sessions.
- Present your project findings and recommendations at the end of the summer.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Laboratory Science, Engineering, Quality, or a related field.
- Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to analyze information, manage priorities, and follow through on assignments.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Coursework or experience in laboratory methods, data analysis, statistics, quality systems, or process improvement is preferred.
- Previous internship, research, project, or leadership experience is a plus.
