About the role#
Oakridge Equine Hospital offers an internship for the 2027/2028 term. You will work alongside five board-certified surgeons and a board-certified internal medicine specialist. The hospital handles a varied caseload of Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds involved in racing, rodeo, and pleasure riding. You will rotate between different clinicians to gain broad exposure to sports medicine, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and emergency care.
What you'll do#
- Assist with outpatient diagnostics.
- Perform lameness and sports medicine exams.
- Participate in surgical procedures.
- Provide care for hospitalized patients.
- Complete dedicated anesthesia training.
What you'll need#
- A veterinary degree.
- Eligibility for an Oklahoma state veterinary license.
- A clinical interest in equine medicine and surgery.
Location & details#
- This role is located in Edmond, Oklahoma, and requires on-site work.
- The position is full-time and paid.
- Compensation includes a $40,000 salary, a $1,500 CE allowance, individual housing with utilities, health insurance, and coverage for Oklahoma state veterinary license fees plus AVMA and AAEP dues. You have the opportunity to earn additional emergency fees.
