About the role#
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children is seeking an Analytical Services Intern for the Fall 2026 semester. This role provides hands-on experience within the Analytical Services Division. You will support data collection, research projects, and tracking efforts while working alongside our staff. This is an unpaid internship that may be eligible for academic credit.
What you'll do#
- Search for attempted abduction incidents using online news, social media, and law enforcement press releases.
- Document incident information for analyst review.
- Collect and track nationwide Child Sex Trafficking trends in spreadsheets and internal databases.
- Update records for noncompliant sex offenders.
- Perform data entry, cleaning, and qualitative coding for various research projects.
- Conduct research on assigned topics.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least two years of college with a focus on Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0, though a 3.5 or higher is preferred.
- Experience with research and analysis.
- Ability to search open source and social media platforms.
- Strong organizational, report writing, and time management skills.
- High standards for data entry quality control.
- Ability to work independently.
- Capacity to maintain strict discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
Location & details#
- Location: Alexandria, Virginia.
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Commitment: Minimum of 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M.
